Based upon on our upcoming theme, Culture Matters, students have been assigned to one of four literature books, each an award-winner, and each multi-cultural in setting and theme: The Singe Shard, by Linda Sue Park (set in Korea); The Year of the Boar and Jackie Robinson, by Bette Bao Lord (set in China); The Master Puppeteer, by Katherine Paterson (set in Japan); and Dragonwings, by Laurence Yep (set in China).
On Friday, students met in their new reading groups and were asked to select a team leader, a team recorder, then choose a team name, create a team banner, and design a team song or cheer.
